Good Sirius Culmination and Great Awakening!

In other words, Hapi New Year!

While most of the world is partying, drinking champagne and celebrating  with other worldly ways, in Ancient Kemet and in Contemporary Neterian Communities, December 31 is a most auspicious moment in the cycle of the Sirius Star System. Sirius is divinely related to the Goddess Aset (Isis). The Neteru, the Gods and Goddesses, represent the cosmic forces that live within all of us. By learning  more about the Neteru, one also gains knowledge about the Higher Self, thus drawing one closer to the Divine.

“The rising of Sirius, the star of Aset (Isis) and the new birth of Heru (Horus). The end of the year is a time of reckoning, reflection and engendering a new or renewed positive movement toward attaining spiritual Enlightenment. The Mother Worship devotional meditation ritual, performed on five days during the month of December and on New Year’s Eve, is based on the Ushet Rekhit. During the ceremony, the cosmic forces, symbolized by Sirius – and the constellation of Orion (Asar)—, are harnessed through the understanding and devotional attitude of the participant. This propitiation draws the light of wisdom and health to all those who share in the ritual, leading to prosperity and wisdom.”

pg. 96
“New Year’s Eve is an especially important time in reference to the mysticism of Sopdu (Sirius). A little known fact about Sopdu is that on New year’s Eve, Sopdu rises to the apex of the meridian above the earth and can be seen directly above from anywhere in the world, beginning at the midnight hour. Thus, Sopdu marks the beginning (birth) of a New Year as well as the continuing cycle of life which reminds us of the glory and precision of the universe. Thus, in this aspect Sopdu is a supreme example of Aset as the mother who gives birth to Heru and also in her aspect as Maat, the universal order of Creation. Therefore, this time offers a great opportunity to reflect upon the attributes and teachings of Aset, Heru and Maat. The Ancient Egyptian Pyramid texts explain that the rising of Sopdu and the birth of the New Year is synonymous with the resurrection of the initiate who is Asar and whose spiritual seed rises in the form of Heru, the vindicator, the renewed spirit (enlightenment).”

“The passage in the Pyramid text is relating the birth of Heru, the spirit of Asar through Aset. It is very important to understand that The Asar being referred to is in reality the initiate, you. Therefore as you read about Asar, keep in mind that it is you who are being renewed, you who are being reborn.”

What follows is a guide for those seeking to connect with the Divine, and welcome in the New Year in a very ancient way.  Hapi New year! HOTEP.

The ritual just described should be carried out at 11pm.

At midnight, the readings should be concluded and meditation on Aset Maat NebtHet in the forms of Sopdu is to begin.  Sopdu may be  found by facing due south. Next look at the southern horizon and then look up, midway between the horizon and the zenith (the part of the sky that is directly overhead. You will see the brightest star in the area and that will be Sopdu, in the area and that will be Sopdu, just to the right you will see three stars. These are known as the belt of Sahu.

Here is another resource on Sirius Culmination from Earth Sky Magazine:

Sirius midnight culmination New Year’s Eve

“Tonight – New Year’s Eve – look up for the brightest star in the sky, Sirius, in the constellation Canis Major.

This star is up in the evening every winter, and it’s always easy to identify. Although a few planets might be brighter, Sirius outshines every other star in the night sky.

If you go outside late this evening and look toward the south, you’ll easily notice Sirius shining there. This star is so bright that you notice it twinkling fiercely. You might even see it flashing different colors – just hints of colors from red to blue – like the celestial counterpart to an earthly diamond.”
